Pediatric Chiropractic in McKinney
Kids have a spine and a nervous system, just like adults—and just like adults, when joints of their spine aren’t moving as they should, it can cause irritation in the nervous system, leading to pain and other types of dysfunction. Rather than showing up as back pain or headaches like in adults, nervous system interference in infants often manifests as things like colic or ear infections.
Conditions We Help With
We see patients with various issues, depending on their age and activity levels. For infants, common problems that chiropractic care can often help with include:
- Colic
- Ear infections
- Latching issues
- Torticollis
As kids enter the toddler stage, they’re crawling, walking, running—and falling down a lot! Keeping their spine and hips aligned and moving well can help them stay active to learn to navigate their world and develop optimally.
School-aged kids face different kinds of stress in life, and chiropractic may be able to remove interference in the nervous system to help with issues like:
- ADD/ADHD and autism
- Anxiety
- Behavioral issues
- Bedwetting
- Sports injuries
- Stress
We also work with youth athletes to help them recover from injury, prevent future injuries, and perform at their highest levels.
How We Help
Dr. Allam tailors care to each child’s specific situation and needs. Infants and babies typically receive very light, low-force Activator Methods® adjustments, often with Mom or Dad holding their baby to keep them even more comfortable.
As children age and become more athletic, Dr. Allam will use gentle manual techniques appropriate for their age and size.
Celebrating Successes
One of our favorite pediatric success stories involves a child who was almost two and unable to walk. After an exam and adjusting their pelvis over a handful of visits, they were up and running around like a typical rambunctious 2-year-old!
